Investigations into the melt adhesion during heated tool welding
JOINING PLASTICS - FÜGEN VON KUNSTSTOFFEN 4 (2010) [2] 102-107 Specialist Articles
Abstract:
One fundamental problem during the welding of low-viscosity thermoplastics is the adhesion of the melt to the heated tool. Within the framework of a research project, investigations were conducted into the possibilities and limits of the contact
heating of low-viscosity thermoplastics at high pull-off speeds. A selection of technically and economically suitable materials were included in order to attain the defined aims. The adhesion behaviour was analysed while systematically varying the parameters of the speed, the temperature, the alignment pressure and the heating time. The following report gives a brief summary of the results of the executed project.
