Dr.-Ing. Tobias Beiss
Dr Tobias Beiss is responsible for the development of processes and packaging at the Illig Technology Centre (ITC) at Illig packaging-solutions GmbH in Heilbronn. His work ranges from basic research into new materials, customer trials and training activities to the development of internal technologies in the field of thermoforming and cellulose fibre technology.
In this role, he is also involved in the development of Illig Dry Fiber Molding (DFM) – a technology that won the German Packaging Award in the packaging machinery category and the Baden-Württemberg Environmental Technology Award in the material efficiency and resource conservation category in 2025.
Dr Tobias Beiss studied mechanical engineering in Erlangen and obtained his doctorate in plastics engineering in 2009 under Prof. Dr Gottfried Ehrenstein. He has been working in the field of application technology for over 15 years, has headed up technical and development departments in various industrial companies in the field of plastic welding processes, and combines in-depth technical expertise with strategic innovation management.
In addition, he is actively involved in network associations in his company's respective industry and regularly participates as a speaker and moderator at trade events in the plastics and packaging industry.
