Dirk Herzog studied Mechanical Engineering at the Leibniz Universität Hannover, Germany. Since 2002, he is with the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. After leading the group "Cutting, Safety & Special Processes" from 2005 to 2008, he is currently head of the "Materials and Processes" department. In 2008, he received the degree "Dr.-Ing." for his thesis "Laser Transmission Welding of Wood and Thermoplastics".
