Prof. Dr.-Ing. Kirsten Bobzin
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Kirsten Bobzin was born in 1967 and graduated in 1994 with a degree in mechanical engineering from RWTH Aachen University as a Diplom-Ingenieur. She then worked as a research associate in the field of Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) at the Chair and Institute of Materials Science (now the Institute for Surface Technology / IOT). In April 1999, she became a senior engineer, and in June of the same year, she earned her doctorate with a thesis on "Wetting and Corrosion Behavior of PVD-Coated Materials." After several years as a senior engineer, she has been the head of the Institute for Surface Technology in Mechanical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University since April 2005.
