Dipl.-Ing. Werner Weßing

After completing his degree in Supply Engineering, Werner Weßing began his career in 1980 at Ruhrgas AG (later E.ON Ruhrgas). In the R&D department, he led projects in the fields of application engineering and operational research. In recent years, his main areas of focus have been hydrogen (materials, conversion, pilot projects) in gas distribution and methane losses in the network (a requirement under EU regulations). In addition, he has represented the gas distribution sector in national and international working groups (e.g. DVGW, GERG and CEN) for over 20 years. In June 2020, after more than 40 years, he left the E.ON Group and now supports the advisory team at the ‘Office for Green Gas’ on gas-related technical issues from Borken. He currently continues to participate in numerous DVGW working groups and, as project group leader, oversees various DVGW R&D projects.
