Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Ralf Hellmann

Physicist Dr. Ralf Hellmann has been working at Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences since 2002 and holds a research professorship there. He heads the Applied Laser Technology and Photonics working group and has set up an Open Innovation Lab for technology transfer at the Industrie Center Obernburg site, which he also manages. His research focuses on optical sensor technology, laser technology and laser material processing as well as additive manufacturing.
Hellmann received his doctorate from the former President of PTB, Prof. Dr. E.O. Göbel, at the Department of Physics at the Philipps University of Marburg on the topics of ultra-short time spectroscopy and material science aspects of alternative III-V and II-VI semiconductors. Prior to his appointment at the TH Aschaffenburg, he worked for the international companies Philips, TDK Electronics and Siemens.
