Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Carlo Holly

Prof. Dr rer. nat. Dipl.-Ing. Carlo Holly is Head of the Chair of Technology of Optical Systems TOS at RWTH Aachen University. Prof Holly and his chair work closely with the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT in Aachen, where he is also head of the Data Science and Metrology department. His research focuses on optical systems, computational optics, EUV technology and digitalisation in photonics.
Prof Holly holds a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and a B. Sc. and M. Sc. in Physics from RWTH Aachen University. He received his doctorate from the Chair of Laser Technology LLT at RWTH Aachen University on the modelling of the lateral emission characteristics of high-power diode lasers. In 2017, he joined TRUMPF Photonics in Princeton, USA; in 2020, he worked as Head of R&D Photonics on optical systems and photonics integration for non-invasive glucose meters at DiaMonTech AG in Berlin. In 2021, he was appointed to RWTH Aachen University.
