Prof. Dr.-Ing. Volker Trappe
Volker Trappe studied physics with a focus on solid state physics at the Technical University of Braunschweig. He earned his doctorate at the Institute for Aircraft Design and Lightweight Construction with a thesis on the vibration resistance of fibre-reinforced plastic composites (FRP). He then moved to the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing, where, in addition to his research work, he was involved in a number of standards and industry committees in the field of FKV and, at the same time, taught aircraft construction and lightweight construction at the Technical University of Berlin. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Volker Trappe heads the ‘Polymer Composites’ department at BAM and holds an honorary professorship for ‘Fatigue Strength of Lightweight Structures’ at the Technical University of Berlin.
