Volker Schöppner studierte Maschinenbau mit der Vertiefungsrichtung Kunststofftechnik. Nach der Promotion war er Oberingenieur am Institut für Kunststofftechnik Paderborn. Er wechselte danach in die Industrie, wo er unterschiedliche Funktionen bekleidete. Seit 2007 ist Prof. Dr.-Ing. Volker Schöppner Leiter der Kunststofftechnik Paderborn und hat die Professur Kunststoffverarbeitung inne.
